View Full Version : No Live DVD Install/Remove via GNOME-SOFTWARE???

Greetings!

The old "Ubuntu Software Center" allowed application install/removal operations during live sessions.

16.04's gnome-software does not appear to support this type of work.

This is a deal killer for those of us who want to do a customised dry run on a target without a full install first.

Any info as to what is now in play that prohibits live session application install/removal operations? Any fix for the problem???

Thanks!

Try apt update first - then have another look.

Hello flocculant.

No dice; but this worked:

sudo gnome-software

What the ... ?!? This is a non-installed LiveCD run: There is no root PW; and there's no dialog to pop which would give any sort of heads-up in any event...

We seem to be hitting the usability fixup basket pretty close to dead center :-?

???

Thanks; and have a great day ;)
