Last night I logged into my laptop (16.04 LTS). After logging in I noticed the my audio was muted, then after 30 seconds it returned to the log in screen. At first I thought maybe my audio driver had updated and was causing a problem as I had updated the previous day. However, I logged into a second account on the machine which uses Cinnamon and it didn't have any issues. I then created a third account and logged it into unity with no problem.
Any idea where to start tracking this issue down?
