I use the mozillateam PPA to update Firefox. Like other such packages it comes from ppa.launchpad.net. However firefox downloads at a much slower pace than other PPA packages. While most of my packages download at 3-4 Mbit/sec (from the MIT mirror that I use or other PPA packages from ppa.launchpad.net), Firefox downloads run at about 300-500 Kbit, sometimes less. This doesn't seem to be true for other packages from ppa.launchpad.net. Are some downloads throttled by the upstream Launchpad server? Or perhaps does ppa.launchpad.net act as a proxy for other servers?
I thought that perhaps this was just a fleeting event, but it recurs every time I update firefox.
