Just starting today my drivers package is not initializing correctly. I get this error:

E:The package unity needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.

USB ports do not work any longer because of this. I've tried updating and get an error "Could not initialize the package information - An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information. Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:
E:The package unity needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it."

Any ideas? This is on an older Asus M70V with no previous issues.

Thank You
Brian

We need a lot more information to be able to help you.
What version of Ubuntu?
More detail on the hardware you use; CPU?, RAM?, etc etc.

Have you run sudo apt-get update command?

Thanks for responding ajgreeny. I managed to get it fixed. Just tried to install several times with the apt-get update and upgrade command, and also using the updater application. Finally installed the drivers correctly. Maybe a third party server was down? IDK.
