I have an older Ubuntu on my computer. Just made a bootable USB image, but the computer doesn't recognize the file. How should I boot from my USB? I tried holding D and Control or D all by itself, or D along with Shift when restarting my machine, but these methods have not worked. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

R

How did you make Ubuntu installer? You cannot just copy ISO file to flashdrive.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick
or these should then work:

How old is system?
If very old may not boot from USB port.
Or may boot as another hard drive entry in BIOS, not USB entry.

What brand/model system? What video card/chip?\
May show BIOS boot menu with f10 or f12 or del key.

UEFI/BIOS Boot keys by brand - about halfway down on this Microsoft page

If older system, Ubuntu may be too much. Ubuntu with Unity is more for newer systems with decent video card/chip.
Older systems work well with lightweight flavors, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, or Mate.
