Hello,
I need some help to get my scanner to work.
My multifunctional printer is an HP LaserJet M1132 MFP, i have already installed the latest version of HPLIP, and the printing works fine.
But the scanner won't work. I have tried several ways, searched in many forums but no procedure could solve the problem. Sorry for the bad english but I'll try to explain.
The error that always appears is: error: SANE: Error during device I/O (code=9), that message shows up if i try the command "hp-scan", for example. Xsane 0.999 won't work either, it will show me a similar message. Simple scan won't work either.
I use Linux Mint Cinnamon Sarah 18 - kernel 4.4.0-21-generic
The scanner is recognised by SANE - (result for sane-find-scanner: found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0 [Hewlett-Packard], product=0x042a [HP LaserJet Professional M1132 MFP]) at libusb:001:005)
I also have tried to insert the vendor and product directly in the hplip backend (/etc/sane.d/dll.d/hplip) but i don't that's the way to solve the issue.
Some information i'm finding useful but still can't figure out how to solve:
I'f i try "SANE_DEBUG_DLL=255 scanimage -L 2>&1 >&2 | tee /tmp/scanimage.out" it will give me the results:

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).
Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]

This is free software, and you are welcome to distribute it
under certain conditions. See COPYING file for more details.
