I just got the last Dell XPS 13 DE as my new laptop and the first thing that I noticed is that the support for the touchpad and the touchscreen in Ubuntu 16.04 are extremely basic. I would like to know what should I install and how should I configure it to get normal gestures to work with Unity. A few things that I would like to do are:

scroll with two fingers in the touchscreen. I can do it in the touchpad but not in the touchscreen
pinch-to-zoom both with the touchscreen and the touchpad
change workspace by swiping three fingers left and right
show all workspaces by swiping three fingers up

Before writing this post I tried:

standard Unity but only few gestures are supported (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Multitouch#Supported_Gestures) and they aren't useful nor very intuitive
touchegg, which I think is incompatible with Unity because it freezes the application when I swipe three fingers down
ginn, which just doesn't work. Not sure if it's again Unity compatibility
xswype but I can't even make it work

Note that the issue is not the hardware: both the touchscreen and the touchpad of this laptop are good and under windows they perform really well. Not like the Mac Book touchpad but still well.

What is the recomended Ubuntu setup for touchscreens and touchpad?
