I'm running 16.04 and I can't get my updates to install.

First off, I almost always update straight from the terminal, using the sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade commands.

When I ask for the update, it loads extremely slow, and then when I ask for upgrade it hangs. It gives me a long list of things that need to be upgraded, but as soon as I hit "Y" it locks up.

I finally got irritated and tried to use the software updater, and it's hanging as well. Any suggestions?

Does anything else run unusually slowly?
Does anything else crash?
Are any other applications running at the time?
Is your disk full?

Nevermind... wouldn't you know it..

I finally get aggravated and ask for help and it decides to start working.
