Improving font appearance question

I just went from a 24 inch to a 32 inch monitor - roughly twice the display area. Obviously, there is a decrease in apparent resolution, especially in text. Is there any way of mitigating this effect when enlarging display sizes?

Depends on if your new display can handle higher resolution than you had before, or not. If yes, then switch to it, if not, there really isn't anything you can do, the limitation is on hardware side...
