Hi,

I have installed Ubuntu 16.04 via a usb flash drive and it seems to have had a successful installation.
However It only boots into Windows and there is no Grub menu to choose OS's.
I ran Boot Repair and got this output

Here is the first portion which can be viewed in full in the link

Hello!

When posting output from terminal commands, please do not include extra formatting. To post such information, you may do one of three things:

1. Click on the # symbol above the text entry box, place your cursor between the code tags and add your text.

2. Add your text, highlight it and click the # symbol.

3. Type
before your text and after. The square brackets are required.

Thanks.

You have UEFI hardware and Windows installed in UEFI boot mode.
But you installed Ubuntu in the 35 year old BIOS boot mode, now emulation using CSM.
CSM - UEFI Compatibility Support Module (CSM), which emulates a BIOS mode

You also booted live installer in BIOS boot mode to run Boot-Repair.
Best to always boot in UEFI mode since system is UEFI.
And how you boot is then how systems install, both Windows & Ubuntu.

Boot-Repair can convert your BIOS install to UEFI, in advanced mode if booted in UEFI mode.
It uninstalls grub-pc and installs grub-efi-amd64.

But some systems do not like to boot anything but Windows in UEFI mode and then need work arounds. Often copying some boot files.

Ok, sounds like a lot, but it's worth it to get Linux running on this laptop.
How would I boot the live usb into UEFI mode? Do I need to change something in the BIOS?
I think I checked the BIOS and UEFI was the default boot mode.

No, you need the one-time boot menu to come up when booting by pressing the special key during start up. Your installler USB should show two entries, one with UEFI in the description - for example, mine will show (UEFI) Kingston Data Traveler, and Kingston Data Traveler. Use the first one.
