Hey guys and gals. I'm not sure what happened to it, but I've been trying to find the ubuntu phone and it's not listed on the bq.com website, whom I think was the original carrier of the phone. I know the Chinese company, Meizu (sp?), has one as well but I was just wondering if this phone wound up becoming MIA. I think it's a great idea to inject some new phones into the ever shrinking market of models. What I mean is that Blackberry stopped making blackberryOS phones, which is sad because those phones rocked especially with the tactile keyboard, i just wish they'd kept producing phones and just upgraded the internal hardware to new stuff like a Snapdragon/ARM/etc CPU and whatever else is available to manufacturers. I really loved my Curve 8530 even though it was much slower than what's available now. But it seems lately that the only phones you can get either are an Apple iPhone, which I have now, or some kind of Android based phone but a lot of those phones are so varied in Android versions and even hardware types that it's hard to find a good one. I know google just released their Pixel phone and it looks cool, but there's also Samsung (man, the whole issue with the exploding note, wow!) and HTC and maybe a couple others but there should be a variety because not everyone is going to like an iPhone or an android.
For me, if I were able to, I'd enroll in college to get an electronics and computer sciences degrees so I could design a phone and get into this awesome market myself but then again, I'd have to have something so good and different to even draw attention to it. But the ubuntu phone is awesome. I think it's great to be able to have our coveted linux derivative on a smartphone.
But where are they? They've gone in a flash it seems.
