I try to install Ubuntu 16.04 on a lenovo laptop(x1 carbon) with windows 10 on it. The installation was completed successfully. However, when I restart the computer, only windows is able to boot and NO Ubuntu boot option is shown up. I try to apply the method in http://askubuntu.com/questions/708247/cannot-boot-into-ubuntu-windows-10, but there is no efi folder exists on any of the disks. I run a script from https://sourceforge.net/projects/bootinfoscript/?source=typ_redirect and get the following result:

Boot Info Script 0.61 [1 April 2012]

Anyone can help me out here? Thanks.

It looks as if you installed Ubuntu in BIOS or legacy mode but Win 10 is installed in UEFI mode so your system will never work as you want it to.

I am also not sure if you ran the Boot-info script from the Boot-repair as your report comes to an end before it should, or perhaps you did not copy the whole report back here.

See Boot-Repair in my signature below and follow the instructions there to run the Boot-Info-Script again.
Do not run the default repair just yet but simply copy back here the pastebin link you get which will show us a lot more about your system and should this time show us all the info needed.

Incidentally you do have an EFI partition at sda1; I am not sure why you say one does not exist.

I thought a BIOS install on a gpt partitioned disk needed a small (1-2M) partition flagged grub-bios -- don't see that. The EFI partition doesn't have the setup I'd expect with the top directory in caps (EFI), with Microsoft (missing) as well as Boot (present). The one boot loader present in EFI/Boot/bootx64.efi is the default bootloader, which is probably how Windows boots. When Ubuntu's bootloader is installed, it's put in /EFI/ubuntu (missing). Looks like the Windows bootloaders also need a reinstall, just to be safe, since sometimes the default bootloader gets rewritten by Ubuntu.

You ran the old version of bootinfoscript, better to use new fork.
And Boot-Repair's Summary report is based on new fork of bootinfoscript with lots of extra info.
Updated fork as original bootinfoscript does not seem to be maintained

I think we need a sticky / how to on dual booting
I'd make it myself but Virtualbox doesn't like my newer kernel

Thanks. The problem was solved with a liveUSB in UEFI mode.
