Hello, this has been bothering me and some of my colleagues for some time already but nobody seem to find a solution or some extension for this. I want to be able to rearrange the running apps in taskbar, so I have my main app on the first place, instant messaging second, then browser and such... The default unchangeable order seems to be the order how the apps were started which is not very practical. See attached image - how (the heck) do I move these so the same colours are together? :)

I'm not positive , but the dash to dock extension may allow the movement of open applications within the dock. The feature you want would probably require a rewrite of an existing window list extension. https://micheleg.github.io/dash-to-dock/

Yes this is a workaround of sorts at least and the icons in dash can be moved around. It is a bit similar to Windows pin to taskbar approach. The disadvantages are that there are no text labels in dash and if I run some new app which is not in dash then I don't see it there unless I add it to favorites :-] But thank you
