Ubuntu 16.10 - After upgrading from 16.04 seeing ghost icons on desktop

Hello,

I upgraded my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS to Ubuntu 16.10 yesterday. I am using Unity 7.5.0 as my DE.


After upgrading, I noticed some ghost icons (folder icons) on my desktop. Can you please help me get rid of those?

Have a look in the file manager to see what is shown in the Desktop folder. Assuming everything you see is listed in some way in nautilus, you should be able to delete anything you don't want.

I did. The directories and files, in Desktop and Nautilus matched. Except for the ghost icons on the Desktop.
