Hi I normally don't use forums nor Ubuntu operating systems so bear with me here. I'm absolutely new to ubuntu. I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 ... I have downloaded ubuntu-13.04-desktop-power.iso . I wish to make a bootable usb drive to run the upgrade. Now I was under the impression that Startup Disk Creator is used for this task. (Considering I know very little of working on terminal) Well problem is the window labeled Source disc image remains blank after I chose the Iso (or any other Iso) from Other... I've tried a solution online via terminal but when I click Make Startup Disk absolutely nothing happens. Any accurate help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS IN ADVANCE

P.m. I only have internet on my phone not the PC =/

Both versions you mention are very obsolete and not supported.
If you want a version that is longer term, use an LTS - long term support version like 14.04 or 16.04.
If an older system use a lighter weight flavor like Lbuntu or Xubuntu.
Current Releases & Flavors
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Xubuntu, Mythbuntu, UbuntuStudio, Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE

Standard Ubuntu now requires a somewhat newer system with good video card/chip to be able to run its gui Unity.

these should then work:

Do you have a reason for not using a currently supported version of Ubuntu, which realistically would either be 14.04.5 or 16.04.1 (12.04.5 goes end of life soon) ?

Both 10.10 and 13.04 are hopelessly beyond end of life.

That's great info but I have no means of downloading another Iso without totally throttling my internet service on my phone or any other PC or hardware in my house. At least the version I've downloaded I can download and install applications with. I just want to make a usable pc which is why I asked for a solution to what I asked specifically because I have no other physical alternatives

Unless I install Windows xp of course

A hacker from the 90's could help me lol

Windows it is than u can close the thread....

No, you can't. With an out-of-life version of Ubuntu, the repositories are closed and you can install neither updates nor new software. That is why you are being asked why you wish to use an obsolete version of Ubuntu.

I'm sure an alternative could be found. Trying to guide you through the early steps of using Ubuntu with an obsolete version of the OS, is not going to happen here.
