Hi,
I have 2 PCs running ubuntu gnome and this week I tried to upgrade from 16.04 to 16.10 and failed twice. one is a Dell XPS501L laptop and the other one is a desktop assembled pc.
Both times the upgrade crashes during package installation and there seems to be no way to recover (the system seems to hang forever, no cue as no terminal can be showed).
After booting in safe mode (otherwise the system doesn't start) and trying to complete package configuration via terminal, in both cases system hang forever in "Setting up accountsservice (0.6.42-0ubuntu1) ..."
and I'n not able to move from there. I also tried to reinstall ubuntu gnome 16.10 via a bootable usb driver but it fails.
The only similar hardware they have is a (different) nvidia graphics card.

Any help is very appreciated.
