Im trying to install Xubuntu 16.10 on a machine, but i cant get it to install.
I have tried on both a DVD burned from the ISO, directly from the ISO using the IPMI management on the machine, as well as a USB drive prepared by rufus made from the official ISO. The same ISO has worked for installation on another machine.
What happens is that it will start, shows the ISOLINUX startup text for a moment, goes into a black splash screen with the keyboard icon at the bottom, and then goes to a blinking cursor at the top of the screen and hangs there, no matter how long its left.
I have succeeded in removing "quiet splash" from the boot options, and it gets as far as:
/casper/initrd.lz...ok
and then hangs at a blinking cursor again.
I have tried setting both ahci=off and noapic by hitting shift on the black splash screen and selecting them in the f6 menu.
Anyone have any ideas as to what i can do to get this installed?
