Dear Friends,
Since the upgrader I have seems to allow only 16.04, which did not fucntion when I tried to install it on my hardware, and 15.10, worked out of the box, I should like to upgrade to 16.10.
Option A, in which I could keep settings and all the stuff I always had, use the install medium to upgrade and hope for the best, which should be relatively quick and painless.
Option B, tedious, boring, and requires a tonne of rebuilding settings, and apt-getting the hundreds of odd things I use daily, just start over again with 16.10, which is fully a half days lost time. (I really want Mate, but cannot use it until hidpi is sorted)
How likely is Option A to succeed?
Obviously, I back up everything to a separate removable drive.
Best wishes,
M
