[16.10] Ubuntu won't login after upgrade from 16.04

After upgrading to 16.10 today I am now unable to login. When I put in my password it attempts to login flashes this (http://i.imgur.com/zSw73G5.jpg) for a second and then goes back to the login screen. I'll also note that the screen resolution is incorrect. Any ideas?

mv .Xauthority .Xauthority.Bak did not work)

Just update to the newest (nvidia-370) drivers. Go to the login screen, press Ctrl+F1 and login then enter this into the console:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
sudo apt update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-370
