I am running Ubuntu 14.04 on a 32bit machine. After some hardware problems, with help from the forum (thank you again) I was able to get it working OK as root administrator user. I want to establish a standard user without administrative privileges. Using the terminal I added a user name and password. OK so far. I tried to log into the new user with the password but it would not launch it appeared that it went through the launch process but just returned me to the login page. Checking with the terminal I found that a file system for the user was present and I was able to change the password. How do I get the new user to launch? Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
