I have upgraded my 14.04 install to 16.04 from inside ubuntu.
After restarting I am greeted by the following kernel panic: https://goo.gl/photos/tQPTDLxrQLAiFy746.
Choosing ubuntu with advanced options I can boot with linux 3.13 instead of 4.4.
I have tried a clean install with multiple different usb's and different bootable usb creator programs,
all result in segmentation fault, (initramfs) unable to find a medium containing a live file system.
I've tried all the options at the install using the usb (ahci off...) all result in either segmentation fault or
kernel panic. I have tried adjusting bios options without effect.
I have tried usb installs without any devices plugged in (keyboard, mouse...).
I have tried a different SSD.
I have tried installing the 32 bit version of ubuntu 16.04.
I even tried installing arch linux, which also did not boot.
I am running:
- asus formula VI z87 motherboard
- i7 4770k
- 2x8 GB corsair dominator platinum RAM
- samsung 850 pro 256 GB
- no graphics card
I have no ideas left so suggestions are more than welcome.
