I tried many ways to make IBus Chinese Pinyin work on ubuntu 14.04, and finally it worked.
But in the input method select menu, there is a item points to 'pinyin' associating to nothing
left. And I don't how to get rid of it. It's not in current input method list, nor in the available
input method list. Just in the menu!

So my question is: How to remove it by editing some setting file? Thanks a lot for your help!

Not sure about the exact answer to your question,
but if I may give you an advice: update to 16.04.
Had myself many problems with text-entry / iBus / Anthy ... in 14.04 ; all of them completely solved in 16.04.

Thanks Kleenux! I'm just a little afraid of PHP6 on 16.04

It's PHP 7 :-)
Yes you'll have to review your code, but this is a good thing. What is deprecated in 7 is all the not-so-good-practice.
