Hi,

My motherboard has only 2 sata ports. One was connected to a HDD, the other one to a DVD-RW. I recently purchased a SSD. Now my HDD and SSD are connected.
So no sata ports are available to connect the DVD+RW. The pci-e slot is occupied by a Nvidia graphics card.

Any cheap solution to connect my DVD-RW ?

Do a search for sata to usb connectors.

This (http://www.amazon.in/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=sata+to+usb+connectors) is the result. All of them are USB to 2.5".

Is 2.5" compatible with my standard DVD drive ?

They are backward compatible. Yes.

Regards..

note: I use my SATA to USB (DVD-RW) very successfully.

What I am trying to know is if the breath of the sata end of the cable will fit on my DVD drive ?

Example

Actually it was Quite common when the Sata era first arrived...
But I thought that might be confusing...but there are many adapters that can be used.
On my Acer Laptop I use these : http://www.amazon.in/RiaTech-Slimline-Laptop-Optical-Adapter/dp/B01IQX3OL4/ref=sr_1_14/255-6431320-5398052?ie=UTF8&qid=1475100835&sr=8-14&keywords=usb+to+sata+dvd+drive
And more Choices here: http://www.amazon.in/s/ref=nb_sb_noss/253-6939936-4907226?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=usb+to+sata+dvd+drive

Special Notes:

Interface:USB2.0 to 7+6 13pin ,Transfer speed: USB2.0 480Mb/S
Length: 30CM Dual USB
Fit for 2.5" hdd caddy or laptop optical drive
