Upgrade from 14 to 16 no video output on boot

Hi,

Just upgraded now I have no video at all for the console, ie no command line prompt, no gui/desktop. I can ssh in, is there a way to backout the upgrade?

I have a recovery console but if I got to a full gui I get a black screen and a x for the mouse....so a stuffed setup....
