Software Update Feature

The latest update for Ubuntu 16-4 came in last night and I began the installation. About 3/4 way through something happened that must have thrown it of; the operation quit. I rebooted the laptop today, but it comes up in the Terminal Screen with "GRUB>_ ".

How can it get into the GRUB to get it working again, finish the update correctly, or what ever else happened? First time an update did not work for me on my laptop with SSD's; my regular Desktop PC updated just fine.

I assume there was a kernel upgrade or a grub update involved. Try boot-repair. It will probably fix the issue. Or get better diagnostics.

I tried the "Boot-Repair-Disk" on a USB stick, but the laptop will not boot from it. The same "GRUB>_ " prompt comes up. I have tried some other commands, but it does not know any of them and errors.

What commands can I use to get further diagnostics?
