The external speakers are working though.
I have to do the following to activate sound in the headset:
- fire up alsamixer in the terminal.
- change the sound card from HDA Intel HDMI to HDA Intel PCH.
- manually enable headphone (disabled by default)
- manually set the volume to 100 (set to 0 by default)
This only works for the current session. The headset is deactivated once again after reboot.
How do I make the changes permanent? I don't see any option in alsamixer to save. The root problem I think is that 16.04 always default to the wrong device (or is it driver?) upon boot.
