View Full Version : [SOLVED] Can not boot from Hard Drive after Successfel install of 16LTS,

olemissconsin
September 14th, 2016, 04:53 AM
So I was finally able to get a successful install of Ubuntu 16.04LTS and after selecting the "restart" option at the end from the successful install window I still cannot boot into Ubuntu without using the USB Installer. Using the USB only gives me the same options: Try Ubuntu or install Ubuntu. I'm kind of at my wits end and feeling a bit over my head so if someone can help it'd be greatly appreciated. Computer is an HP Envy and is originally a Windows 8.1 machine. I'm fed up with Windows and want this machine to solely be a *nix machine. I found some other discussions in this forum but haven't been able to find a work around that either A: I can understand, or B: works. I ran the bootinfoscript program from another thread (see below), please help!

I went back into BIOS, changed from legacy back to UEFI and reinstalled. This time it worked. Not sure what all I changed but yea...go me.
