Chirp & 16.04 lts

Hello. I recently upgraded 14.04 t0 16.04. I have been trying to put CHIRP back on to the laptop, so I can program one of my amateur radios.

Bottom line up front: I received a message saying that an error is not able to be reported.

I am going to post the output, and I hope that someone can teach me what went wrong. Thank you.

Try uninstalling the existing chirp installation before installing the chirp-daily package.


sudo apt remove chirp

Thank you for the suggestion. I just deleted & reinstalled. Now, I'll restart and let you know how it turns out.

I ran away to try out your suggestion before I saw your next note.

Yes, your suggestion worked perfectly. Thank you very much. My HT now has United Kingdom frequencies programmed, and I'm listening away.

Glad to hear it, seems that you had chirp installed previously which was carried through on upgrade to 16.04. Installing chirp-daily required chirp to be uninstalled first. You could probably have used the forceoverwite option but things start to get messy.
