I know of 2 cast members from the X-Files who use Linux.
Debian and Slackware.
And that is all I am saying, or allowed to say.

My wife likes this show on G4 called X-Play, and apparently, according to one fan page (http://www.iheartmorganwebb.com/?file=morganwebb_faq), one of the co-hosts uses Linux:
Morgan does not hate Microsoft Windows, she prefers to use Linux (Red Hat Distribution) as her PC's main OS. Kind of weird she uses Red Hat instead of Fedora or Blag.

....even the mighty Google has started using it. It's made its own version of Ubuntu, called, naturally, Goobuntu.....

There you go...

I think Ben Afleck uses it. He's a major computer geek believe it or not. Saw him on Call For Help on TechTV before it was bought out by the evil evil G4.

OK so they aren't evil, but the channel sucks now.

Why can't you say which X files cast members use it?

I don't know if it is his main OS of choice but I'd assume that John Carmack has been known to use linux to some degree from the following text:

From wikipedia:

Carmack is a well-known advocate of open source software, and has repeatedly voiced his opposition to software patents, which he likens to "mugging someone"[1]. He has also contributed to open source projects, such as starting the initial port of the X Window System to Mac OS X Server and working to improve the OpenGL drivers for Linux through the Utah GLX project.

I think that most people who are famous and use linux will be famous because of some techy thing they do. Your not likely to find someone who is a rock star or from hollywood using linux. I am sure that type of person does exist, but i am sure it is much easier to find a linux user who is famous, but for something techy (think kevin mitnick and hacking).

For the record I do not know if mitnick uses linux, but I'd guess that he uses some sort of *nix variant. I just can't see him using windows.

Any celebrity with a TiVo counts as using Linux, right?

Oh, well if we're counting devices with embedded Linux, then I'm sure tons of celebs with certain mobile phones or a Teac interactive set-top-box use Linux!

We need some famous weirdo to front Ubuntu on the red carpet. Someone like John Travolta or Tom Cruise. One of the weird religion types. Or maybe some space cake like Paris Hilton or Jessica Fletcher, I mean Jessica Simpsons.

Imagine Travolta looking into the camera and screaming Ubuntu! Humanity to otheeeers!! Or Paris playing with her hair and chewing her gum and explaining how the new bling bling eye candy (XGL) outshines the Mac and how all the deep layered modules make it work.

the other year i believe zmag (http://zmag.org) changed to run linux (or it was planning to and there was essays on why etc) in its offices and on its staff hardware. i wouldnt be suprised if a lot of the activists and writers that contribute use linux, although i cant check up right now.

Well we know there are a lot of studios that use Linux. Disney, Dreamworks ect, mainly for rendering because buying half a million windows liences for your windows cluster would hurt your moview budget.

Neal Stephenson, a pretty hot author these days, wrote an essay about computers in which he mentioned linux. He also said he used BeOS.

It's called "In the Beginning was the Command Line".

well if you,re going to be that picky i'd say torvalds isn't famous for using linux, he's famous for creating linux.
hmmmm?
oh, and apart from that i imagine you're probably a "fine, fine human being" too.
