Is there a way to implement the windows key displaying the default keyboard shortcuts as described below in xubuntu? I can't find this in synaptic or with google searches

"With Unity you can hold down the super key (Windows key) on your keyboard and a list of shortcuts appear."

Hello cmcanulty,

I don't think that particular feature is available in Xubuntu.
If you are adventurous, you could probably develop your own using conky.
Another alternative is to check out Bunsen Labs Linux. It has all of the shortcuts on the upper right side of the screen. https://www.bunsenlabs.org/

thanks but I am pretty committed to xfce, just thought a list of the standard keyboard shortcuts would be nice even as a pdf or .doc

Thanks for an available Thread related to an issue I have: I'm quite used to using Alt-codes for entering characters outside of ANSI X3.4; in all versions of Ubuntu® that I have used (incl. 16.04.1-LTS on the Hot Rod gPC™ Desktop as of 17 August 2016), I have to use GNU® Character Map for many characters that, in all versions of Microsoft® Windows® (including Win 10 Build 1607 10.0.14373.51 on my ASUS® CM1630 as of 17 August 2016), can be done as an Alt-code from the numberpad (with Num Lock engaged). Hadn't called up the Dashboard from the Super key, but context menus routinely trigger from the Tasklist key. What gives with enabling Alt-codes for Unicode entry in XKbd and Unity?

Update: I actually got the info I needed from a closed Thread: "[SOLVED] ASCII/Unicode in a non-English system (https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2254586)" showed that Ubuntu® uses a Unicode-entry system with which I had no previous experience, with Ctrl-Shift-U being the initiator.

I see plenty of shortcut lists on the web , creating your own document shouldn't be a problem.
