When will Ubuntu NOT rely on protobuf 2.6.1 but 3.0.0+ ?

To whom it may concern:


Google protobuf seems to be a problematic package. Any plan to thoroughly remove protobuf 2.6.1 but replace it with 3.0.0+ ?

The "whom" to whom you need to address your concern would be the employees of Canonical, in particular the Ubuntu developers.
