Hello all i'm trying to give my old laptop a new life.. the old laptops screen broke. so i removed it . and i am planning to turn it into a media center.. Its a hp Pavilion m6 laptop..
It perfectly starts from a live cd.. but when i install ubuntu/lubuntu/xubuntu i get a a black screen and after a few minutes a screen full with weird characters. i tried adding radeon.modeset=0 and video=LVDS-1:d to my grub but this didnt change anything at all. I have no clue in which direction i have to search for a solution here..
when i go in recovery mode i get an error : gave up waiting for root device. then i after some searching if ound online that it should be possible to reach the harddrive.. but in /dev the entire sda is missing in (initramfs).. while on the live cd when i try its there..
i added some pictures to make clear what i mean.. I hope someone can help me with this problem..
