I have been having this issue for the last two day, Im attempting to install ubuntu gnome 14.04LTS, it appears to go through with the installation fine, I customize everything as far as desktop settings and other stuff to my liking and then soon as I restart my computer it wont boot, I have wiped the partition and reinstalled 14.04LTS several times and it does the same thing everytime! If I install Ubuntu Gnome 16.04LTS it works fine and restarts and boots like normal but as of right now using 16.04LTS isnt really a option because the main program I want to use isn't compatible with 16.04...

Ive attached a picture of the screen it gets stuck at everytime I try to boot ubuntu gnome 14.04LTS

The kernel thats installed is 4.2.0-27-generic

--- THINGS I SHOULD MENTION --

- I have this dual booted on my macbook pro retina mid 2014

- I didn't make a partition for swap as I have 16gb of memory and figured i could go without(and 16.04 boots fine so I don't think this is the issue)

- I didn't install grub, I hold option key down and and just select the ubuntu partition(Dont think this is a problem as 16.04 boots fine doing this without grub)

Does anybody know what the issue could be??

using 16.04LTS isn't really a option because the main program I want to use isn't compatible with 16.04.
