Transplanting Drive between laptops

I am interested in transplanting an Ubuntu (16.04 LTS) SSD from a HP laptop (2010) to another HP laptop (2012). What problems / obstacles will I face if this is done and is there any irreversible effects? Any lesson-learned from those who have actually done this is appreciated. I look forward to a flurry of insightful responses.

Turn off any ppas, and remove any proprietary drivers that would be different on the two systems. Should be pretty straightforward HP to HP.
