Hey,
I'm very new to linux and ubuntu. I updated to 14.04 LTS. I rebooted my computer and ran ubuntu and instead of the normal home login screen I was looking at a black screen asking for login information. I have searched and searched and have not found a solution. I can run startx and get access to the terminal. I have tried update lightdm, purge/remove it. After i run commands the terminal will processes it and then say that there were "unmetdescrepncies: iio-proxy" . Is their a way i can install a newer version through a bootable usb through the grub menu. Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can fix this issue.
I installed virtual box and kali linux prior to this. Did that have anything to do with it?
I am completely stumped. Pleasee help me fix this issue!
