Hello,

I'm thinking about writing some Ubuntu tutorials for my site, so I'm just wondering if I could, and if I did, what credits would I need to put in the tutorial.

Thanks.

(By the way, sorry if I posted in the wrong forum.)

they're your tutorials, so you have copyright.

What do you want to write them on?

If you're writing yourself you don't really need to give credit. If you use other people's work, check to see what license it uses and contact the author for permission. Most people don't mind as long as you credit them.

If you don't copy the tutorial or howto, and it provides your opinions and new ideas, I don't see any problem. You can always protect your work with a Creative Commons license.

Oh ok, thanks for the reply guys.

I plan to write them on Windows > Ubuntu and some various stuff I've learned while using Ubuntu.

Anything you've learned that you can also contribute to the UDSF (http://doc.gwos.org/)?

Once I get the layouts for my other sections done, I'm splitting the site up into 4 sections: NeoAddict (main site), ComputerAddict (Win/Linux/Mac), CodeAddict (CSS/PHP/HTML/JS) and GraphicsAddict (graphics).

Anyways, I better start writing. XD And about the UDSF, I'm mostly writing General Info stuff.

How about I write it and you decide?

Looks nice though I'd use the same color scheme for the whole site (maybe replace the brownish color in the middle with the one used for the rest of the layout?). I licensed my site under the http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5/ which lets other people to copy, modify and distribute (commercially or not) the contents of the tutorials I put there, but I only used content licensed under the same license (or others like it) and pretty much is my work. Also the images that I didn't make are licensed under a same permissive license. You have many images there, are they all made but you? I guess it would be all right to copyright the contents under the license that I mentioned above, but only in case you use material licensed that way.

I'll try to for the next layout. ^^

Yeah, most of them, except for the Neopets images. I have the credit on the main site, but I'll put it on the wiki too, just in case. ^^

Any opinions?

Very nice work, I love the layout.

Can I put a link for them on my Blog ?

Go right ahead! :)

I bet I'll get some more Ubuntu tutorials done, since I have to write 85 pieces of content for my site in 2 weeks. ^^

it's decent but yout tutorials could do with a bit of sprucing up. as far as I can tell, most seem to be under 500 words. If you're aiming for new users and such you need to really plunge into details and for stuff like installation, provide screenshots and stuff.

2 red X's. XD Anyways, that'll be off unless you turn it on in the next version of my site.

Yes, I'll try. Right now, I'm trying to get everything sorted out, then I'll have to do an overhaul of about 150+ pages of content. :(

I think I should put the rest of the new Ubuntu content on the wiki so people can edit any errors and stuff.
