Hi everybody,
I cannot for the life of me get my asus f80s laptop to install ubuntu 14.04. After inserting the cd and pressing the continue button when asked for english a blank screen comes up and thats where it stays, nothing else. Is this m/c prone to doing this. The laptop is 8-10yrs old and has vista on it. Anybody out there who has this problem and solved it please can you let me know.
Cheers

For the sake of clarity. Are you able to run the live session? How well does the session run? If I was installing on that machine I would not tick the box "Install third party software." That option installs some proprietary audio & visual codecs and also a proprietary video driver. And it could be the case that the proprietary video drivers that come with 14.04 no longer support the video adapter in that machine.

Regards.

Are you able to install X/Lubuntu 16.04?
