System crashing and freezing

Im new to ubuntu but every half hour my system freezes and I can't move anything or do anything. The only thing that fixes it is shutting it down. Any advice

Is your system overheating? What is your hardware? Please post the results of
lspci More input is needed than you've given, and lspci (which lists your computer's hardware) is a good place to start.
