Sounds stops working after update. This has happened to me, after updates, from time to time. I found that by clicking on "system settings" (the little gear and wrench icon), my sound returned, but every time I login, I have to click on "system settings" before my sound works. I can close system settings and my sound continues to work until I logout or timeout. It was not just the most recent update, but on several other updates, as well.
