Keyboar layout for Japanese Acer Laptop

Hi! I am trying to install Ubuntu 14.04 LTS onto an Acer Laptop with Japanese keyboard. However, I am having trouble to setup the keyboard properly. I am not interested in typing in Japanese, but only in English with accented characters. I have tried every Japanese keyboard layout variant available, but all of them are different from the keyboard layout of my laptop. See below:

One of the biggest problems is that the "Shift" keys are not correctly handled.

Any clue on that?
