I have a Gateway NV55S02u laptop. It has two Windows 7 installations on it. I have Ubuntu 14.04.3 on a DVD and a flash drive. They are loaded properly, so that's not the issue. When I boot up, I press F12 for boot menu. I select DVD, press Enter. Then it goes straight to the Windows 7 installation selection, to choose which instance to boot from. It doesn't boot from the DVD. Same thing happens when I choose USB.

Can anyone help me with this? Am I missing something so simple?

Any help will be most appreciated.

They are loaded properly,

The only way that can be actually verified if you have booted either/both in another machine and verified they boot. Did you do that?

I guess the F12 key method isn't working. Watch the screen on boot and when you see the Gateway logo, watch the bottom of the screen for the key to press to enter the BIOS setup and do that. Look for a boot tab and change the priority to the DVD or flash drive and Save/Reboot.

I entered BIOS, F2, and set priority to DVD. Save/Reboot. Goes straight into Windows selection. Same for USB.
I even reset BIOS to default and then reordered the boot list.

How did you create your boot media, and did they boot on another machine?
