Freezing after login

I just updated ubuntu 15.04 and now when I login I am left with a blank screen with only the mouse curser working... any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you know that 15.04 reaches EOL tomorrow:

Not sure what the most recent 15.04 updates may have included but if it included a new kernel you may want to try booting the previous (older) kernel by selecting advanced boot options from the grub boot screen.

It would also be helpful to know a bit more info, like is this a dual boot? Or is Ubuntu the only OS on that puter? Maybe a bit about your hardware and what desktop environment you're now using (eg; unity).

Stephen, is your installed system the same that resulted from the thread above? BTW, please acquire the habit of following up the threads you open, mark them as solved if applicable, and, last but not least, remeber thank the people helping you.
