Hope y'all don't mind moving this thread to the Screenshots section. This has nothing to do with KDE Desktop Support, so It's more appropiate here .

Here (http://ubuntuforums.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=5095&cat=3)'s mine - unoriginal I know, yet another OSX rip-off, but I like it :-)
"kwin-baghira" makes this very easy for anyone interested.

I didn't like the quick start buttons at the bottom so I made a panel on the left. I like this background because it looks nice with the transparent panels :)

Pretty minimal except for the Menu button and system tray stuff - I took off the desktop panel and task bar displays and have the left mouse click on background set to show all running tasks in all desktops. Since I'm running on a 10.4 inch screen on a HP TC1100 tablet, every little bit of screen space counts.

Hey, deese64 and guitarmaniac: What icon themes are you using? I love that one Synaptic icon there, for one thing.

And deese64, what's that "Windows XP" thing on your desktop? Are you running a VM?

Anyhow, here's mine, clean and cluttered :)

Hi guys.

I am just wondering. How are you able to customize your desktops to the extent you are? Some of you even have taskbars that are semi-opaque, and some of you have desktops that look like MacOSX. And how is Tiptip able to run Microsoft Office applications? Or are they just icons for show?

I have heard of something called Beryl(?) and Compiz, do those relate to this?

Yes, I am new to this ;-)

@simsen

I am just wondering. How are you able to customize your desktops to the extent you are?thats the beauty of open source :P
Some of you even have taskbars that are semi-opaque, and some of you have desktops that look like MacOSXto get your kicker (panel at the bottom) to look like OSX right click on the kicker and select configure panel.
Under the arrangement tab change postion to bottom centre, length to 1% and under the appearance tab, check "enable transparancy". To change the opacity click on advanced options (still under the appearance tab) and change the tint amount to whatever suits you.
And how is Tiptip able to run Microsoft Office applications? Or are they just icons for show?As you thought they are just icons to their OpenOffice alternatives... I think (however Microsoft programs can be run on ubuntu, but I wont get into that).
I have heard of something called Beryl(?) and Compiz, do those relate to this?heres a link to the wikipedia definition for compiz to help you understand what it is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compiz
