desktop top bar problem

I turned my machine on this morning and found that the top bar, normally black, had turned light blue with stripes. My unity launchers were also blanked out (blue with little dots). I changed the size of the icons and that seemed to fix the launch problem but the top bar remains strange. I have searched but have no idea how to deal with that. Below is my desktop with top bar. I use firefox as my browser. When firefox is set to full page the top bar of firefox gets strange. What happens is that the firefox top bar will go up BEHIND the desktop top bar. I can also move firefox by click on the desktop top bar and pulling firefox down. When I do that the firefox screen automatically switches to a small screen. This is all kinda odd, I think.

I went to system settings/appearance and changed my theme and it fixed itself. I then cycled through the themes, back to the default and the bar remains correct so, I guess, I managed to fix this thing so I will mark this as solved.
