Hello,

No matter what theme I install, only half of it loads or it loads up ugly.
I have no idea what I am doing wrong.
Right now I have Aurora installed an enabled:

But as you can see, it doesn't load correctly.

Is there anyone who knows a solution for my problem?

Thanks!

Where and how are you installing the themes? What's their source? Have you installed a PPA and then installed the themes from that PPA? Or, have you downloaded zipped archives from GitHub or elsewhere. If the latter, you should check the README file or the site to see if the themes have dependencies. Those should be installed automatically by the package manager if you're pulling the theme packages from a PPA. They won't be if you manually installing from an archive. (gtk2-engines-murrine and gtk2-engines-pixbuf are two common dependencies.)

You also need to use themes built for the GTK version used in 14.04. (3.12, I believe). Themes requiring later GTK versions will probably not work well on 14.04. (GTK is a large software toolkit used to make the widgets, etc., themes manipulate.)

I have installed the theme by adding the PPA repository and then installing it with apt-get. Should I rather try installing it from a download?
Today I successfully installed an icon theme. But installing a theme to replace the gnome looks acts really weird.

If you're using the Noobslab PPA, note that they say it "has issues" running on Unity (http://www.noobslab.com/2015/09/aurora-another-great-theme-for-gnome.htm (http://www.noobslab.com/2015/09/aurora-another-great-theme-for-gnome.html)l).

The theme archive contains no Unity components.

So I succesfully installed the theme now. But my icons are not changing correctly... I have no clue why.

I have installed the Super-Flat-Remix icon set in my ~/.icon folder.
When I load it up in unity, it loads up a completely different icon set. Why is this?
