In order to be able to install evolution 3.18.2 to Ubuntu 15.10, I had to add the gnome3-team ppa and the gnome3-team staging ppa. As a result, Nautilus (Files) is version 3.18.2. This is a problem (versus older versions) is that other partitions show as other locations, not under home directory listings. Just about all my data are not in my home directory by design. For example, it is in /media/reports and /media/reprints. I am constantly going between what I am writing (e-mail, reports, etc) and the information in the partitions under /media/.

Can I role back to an earlier version of Nautilus? Any other suggestions?

Thank you,

John

Have you tried other file browsers. It is worth testing thunar and pcmanfm. I have them installed alongside each other, and they do not interfere in my system. But if you remove nautilus, you may get problems, because I think it is part of your Ubuntu desktop.

If you want to play safe, you can test in a live system before you install.

Edit: Another option is to use symbolic links for the locations you use often.
