I have an asus k55n-ds81 laptop with a fresh install of 12.04. After a lot of futzing i was able to successfully install the system. Here is the problem, after i get past grub to the login screen the mouse cursor moves but but nothing on the screen responds to either clicking or my keyboard. So i cannot type my pw to log in.

Side note, this is not a multi boot system.

Help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome.

It really begs the question : Why 12.04?
ASUS k55n-ds81 is a modern machine with hardware NEWER than the distro release you installed. It makes no sense using a +3 years old release.

I suggest you install 14.04 -and- install AMD proprietary drivers which in your case - AMD APU - are (almost) mandatory for optimal performance.

It happened to be the only install medium i had at the time (long story). Anyway i managed to get it working by changing up the partition table a bit. Perhaps a bug in the installer or bad sectors in the hd, I'm not sure. Doing the 14.04 upgrade as we speak.
