Wow, here I am asking your help. Screen flips/Flutters like venetian blind using 1510 Wily Ubuntu on my 1 Tbit WD in Mirus PC clone,

new install runs great for hours. suddenly my screen flips into a fluttering blind affect. For all practical purposes, monitor looks like it's crash. Once it's amid the fluttering, the screen looks like Venetian blind being bounced by a swift wind.

Yes All updates done. the OS let's me retrieve it if I'm patient. But most often all I can do is power off & login anew.

OS does not produce a reportable error/crash description. note below was copied on 11-24-15 after the monitor began to flip or had a fluttering blind affect. For all practically looks like OS crashes. Flicker err ? solution to Nvidia bug. screen like Venetian blind being bounced by swift wind. On P5GC-MX, BIOS 0314, 5/27/2007 1510 Wily Ubuntu. A report I can't find says “unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 000000000000008

What does this bring to mind or what work around could I use to solve this problem?

Have a happy thanksgiving and I hope you let me know of tests to run

many thanks for all you do!

on 11-25-15 I logged in 15.10 Wily 1 T Western Digital produced the following note, which I don't understand. Is it meaningful ?

Could not apply the stored configuration for monitors
none of the selected modes were compatible with the possible modes:
Trying modes for CRTC 63
CRTC 63: trying mode 1440x900@60Hz with output at 1280x1024@75Hz (pass 0)
CRTC 63: trying mode 1440x900@60Hz with output at 1280x1024@75Hz (pass 1)
Trying modes for CRTC 64
CRTC 64: trying mode 1440x900@60Hz with output at 1280x1024@75Hz (pass 0)
CRTC 64: trying mode 1440x900@60Hz with output at 1280x1024@75Hz (pass 1)
Trying modes for CRTC 65
CRTC 65: trying mode 1440x900@60Hz with output at 1280x1024@75Hz (pass 0)
CRTC 65: trying mode 1440x900@60Hz with output at 1280x1024@75Hz (pass 1)

I'm baffled. Is my prior notes meaningfully related to the problem posted yesterday? This output was subsequent to an Ubuntu update

I just posted this problem /Bug #1520583 on launchpad. whereas 3 HDs [which includes the 750g maxtor, an 80g and 120 g Seagate] teamed behind the new one terrabyte WD, I feel Bug 1511158 listed on launchpad as a new bug may affect outcomes.

new install 1510Wily on 1 WD Tbit, Screen flips & crashes/takes over/dying fluttering like a wind blown venetian blind
Bug #1520583 & Bug 1511158 combine as an outflow of a WD 1 T HD that drives 3 other HDs including a 750g maxtor, an 80g seagate and 120 g Seagate. Question, is the flutter arising in the WD HD or somewhere within the 3 other hard drives?

Greetings: Help me with a new question... How must I set the BIOS to make my WD 1 Tbite HD with my 750g maxtor 15.10 wily; 80g on 8.04 and 120 g Seagate 12.04 all tied in as one?

Fist note: this is my first post in 2016 After having my hardware tested and retiring a Dell monitor. The hardware test said "You're 100% OK and this is my 2nd day with no fluttering screen.

The size of print appears small and not bight enough. I'm not sure what to say regards alleged Bug #1520583 or Bug 1511158. Also, I disconnected 3 HDs set to run/update 750g maxtor 15.10 wily; 80g on 8.04 and 120 g Seagate 12.04.

Teaming these 4 HDs had been intended to allow me to save and organize all files on the one terrabyte WD,

Whereas one has to be coached so the BIOS Logs you in on the WD 1 Tbite.

How must I set the BIOS to make my WD 1 Tbite HD with my 750g maxtor 15.10 wily; 80g on 8.04 and 120 g Seagate 12.04 all tied in as one?

Thanks to all who stop by after 10 am cst 1-28-16 ,,,,, my flickering monitor and related issue/bug reports etc., might be solved:

By moving my 1 T-bit WD hard drive running on 15.10 to a backup clone PC and isolating hardware outages then doing a simple auto-update early 1-28-16, I want to believe my questions may be solved.

At least, the demands on me to move ahead with work are pressing thanks to knowledge from Ubuntu Forum and Launchpad bug solution specialists.

Many thanks for all you do!

Warm regards!!!
