I received a computer with Ubuntu installed beside Windows 8 (8.1 I think). I'm trying to load Windows now but on first load I get a strange message from the windows bootup:
"One Key Recovery partition has damaged, so do not launch the main application."
After clicking OK (the only button), the machine reboots and brings me back to the initial menu to choose an OS.
I ran boot-repair but the result was the same.
On second load of windows after boot repair I just get a blank screen with some strange colored lines on it and the computer needs to be forcefully turned off.

Last note, after boot repair completed, I got this message:
You can now reboot your computer.
Please do not forget to make your BIOS boot on sda (500GB) disk!
The boot files of [The OS now in use - Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS] are far from the start of the disk. Your BIOS may not detect them. You may want to retry after creating a /boot partition (EXT4, >200MB, start of the disk). This can be performed via tools such as gParted. Then select this partition via the [Separate /boot partition:] option of [Boot Repair]. (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootPartition)
Any help would be appreciated.
