Is anyone thinking of getting the Steam Link (http://store.steampowered.com/universe/link/) and turning their computer into a Steam Machine? I would love to spend $500+ on an actual machine but $50 to link up my roommate's 1080i big screen TV to my laptop seems like good alternative

Isn't it already possible to do this by streaming the game from a capable computer to a laptop connected to the TV? One of my roommates over the summer did that with a lot of games he preferred playing from his bed (which was in a different room than his computer) and/or with a controller.

That said, I guess $50 is a cheap way of doing this if you don't have the second computer.
